Missionary Tie Club

In Fact...
Each one of our ties is new, sleeved in plastic, and categorized by color and basic pattern. While we cannot specifically control the styles (where's the fun in that?), we guarantee that our ties are appropriate to missionary dress standards. Take a look at some of the fetching examples that have come across our table!

We've Been There Before

The Missionary Tie Club was born in 1994, when we needed a Christmas gift for a missionary, then serving for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Richmond, VA Mission. The missionary was my husband's brother David, and we had great difficulty thinking of a gift that would be appropriate for a missionary, not be cumbersome to move around on transfers, and still be meaningful to him.

Inspired by the many "offerings" received in the mail at that time of year, we decided - almost as a joke - to invent a "Tie of the Month Club" for him. We bought used ties at Goodwill Industries, packaged a few together, and mailed them off along with a letter explaining that someone had purchased a subscription for him. Every month we sent another package of ties. Some were nearly hideous, others were very dashing.

To our delight, David greatly enjoyed the tie packages and anticipated their arrival each month. His companions were as curious as he to see what would arrive next. With time, these ties became hot trade items between the missionaries, and a topic of conversation at district and zone meetings. Eventually we realized that the "Tie of the Month Club" had the potential to be enjoyed by missionaries all over.

Now called the Missionary Tie Club, our club has expanded to include missionaries all over the United States, with hope to soon include missionaries serving in foreign lands. The ties are now new, not from Goodwill. We are a family-run business, with a goal to help our children set aside funds for their own missions.

We are sure that your missionary will enjoy a membership and a reminder of your thoughtfulness in brightening his day (and his wardrobe).
